"Impious is defined as lacking respect towards God or the church. With too many moments in my life where I've questioned the logic and existence of such a disgusting entity, I felt it was only fitting to create a thematic album about my feelings towards the issue. The whole idea started when I thought about the time I was talking about losing my nan to breast cancer, my best friend to leukemia and almost losing my sister to pleuropulmonary blastoma. Some Jesus freak had the nerve to say that I went through those things because God was making me stronger for the future... And I thought “Fuck that and fuck you”. What kind of sadistic psychopath sits there on his throne and cuts people down like that, and what kind of retarded sheep has he created for them to say that that is okay? Now I'm heavily atheist, and I respect people who choose to follow a religion, I have no issue with that. What I do have an issue with is little mother Mary telling me that it’s all in his plan... That’s what pisses me off, that Stockholm syndrome bullshit. Lo and behold we now have the album from Purgatory, IMPIOUS."
